Veteran Profile - Hondo Pearcy
Maryville, Mo. - Hondo Pearcy is today's featured Veteran Profile. Hondo is a great kid. His relaxed demeanor reminds me of someone from sunny California instead of Lee's Summit. The Junior from Archbishop O'Hara High School stands 5'10" tall and weighs 170 lbs. The sun is always shining in Hondo's world. Always smiling. Just a positive person. Says hi if he sees you. Here is the write-up from Northwest's official website, bearcatsport.com -
2015
Appeared in seven games for Northwest, pitching 7.2 innings ... had five strikeouts and five walks on the year ... worked a scoreless and hitless inning with a strikeout against Midland University (Apr. 21).
2014
Pitched in 11 games … started in eight of those games … had a record of 3-3 with a total of 47 innings pitched … struck out 26 batters and only walking 12 ... pitched six strong innings giving up only five hits in a win against Lincoln (3/7).

2015 Statistics - Hondo had a 10.57 ERA last season and did not factor in a decision, 7 appearances all in relief, worked 7.2 innings, allowed 17 hits, 9 earned runs, 5 walks, 5 strike-outs, 2 wild pitches, hit 2 batters, and did not commit a balk.
B2R thoughts - Hondo is a good guy. He goes about his business. I always appreciate his positive outlook and happy demeanor. I hope 2016 brings a healthy year for Hondo so he can enjoy success similar to 2014. So far so good for Hondo this season as he appeared in one game, worked 1.1 inning, allowed 0 hits, 0 runs, 0 walks, and struck-out one batter against Henderson State that stopped the bleeding and kept the Bearcats in the game. The 2016 Bearcats baseball team's success will hinge on pitchers in the bullpen like Hondo having consistency and success on the mound.
Go Cats!!
