Veteran Profile - Brad Roberts
Maryville, Mo. - "That guy has the best stuff on the team...and he's only a freshman," said a veteran Bearcat baseball player when he described Brad Roberts in 2015. The B2R's next veteran profile is Brad Roberts. Brad stands 6'3" and weighs 195 lbs. The Cairo, Missouri, native graduated from Northeast Randolph County High School. The Sophomore made quite the splash in his freshman year at Northwest in 2015. Roberts earned a weekend starter position and kept that position throughout the season. Brad is a hard working kid. Quiet. One of the nicest persons you will ever meet. Respectful. Great teammate. He leads by example. Parents, if you want an example how you want your child to grow-up to become look no farther than Brad Roberts - smart, athletic, polite, self-reliant, and a hard worker. What is there not to love about Brad? The guy would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. Family is very important to him. One of the many exciting facts about Brad is (1) he enters the 2016 NCAA season as a Sophomore, and (2) he only scratched the surface of his pitching talent.

B2R thoughts - Don't be surprised if Brad makes the biggest jump in statistics from last season. His talent is undeniable. It is only a matter of time until the coaching staff refines the talent to skill and execution. Brad has made one start in 2016 and current sports a 4.16 ERA, worked 4.1 innings, allowed 3 hits, 2 earned runs, 4 walks, 3 strike-outs, with an opposing batting average of .214. Brad throws a lot of pitches in his outings so the next step is getting deeper into the games by throwing more quality strikes is key for his success in 2016. Brad is the 3rd of 3 weekend starters that potentially all can throw in the 3's ERA-wise. Northwest has the bullpen to close out games. The Bearcats success will hinge on the weekend 3 (Anthony, Joe, and Brad) getting deep into games. The exciting thing to think about is Brad can probably challenge for the Friday starter position with continued development and skill refinement. Think about that for a moment.
Go Cats!!
