Allow me one more favor - many of God's angels were taken during the bombing of the Boston Marathon, one of which was 8 year old Martin Richard of Dorchester, Massachusetts.  The Boston Red Sox produced a pre-game tribute that absolutely wrecks me every time I watch it.

Following the double header, the Maryville Pride Lions Club hosted its annual cook-out for the baseball team where members of the civic organization cooked brats, burgers, desserts, potato salad, and drinks for the team and their families.  The cook-out is a way the Lions Club can recognize all the players, the coaches, and their families for all of the contributions they make to the greater Maryville and Nodaway County communities.  After a fine meal was had by all, Coach Darin Loe announced team awards as follows:

Spirit of the Bearcat Award winner Alex Singleton for exemplary hustle, work ethic, and team spirit during the 2013 NCAA baseball season
Newcomer of the Year Award winner Brandon Huske for exemplary athletic performance by a first year player during the 2013 NCAA baseball season

Most Valuable Pitcher Award winner Ryker Fox for exemplary athletic performance by a pitcher during the 2013 NCAA baseball season

Most Valuable Player Award winner JJ Baccari for exemplary athletic performance during the 2013 NCAA baseball season

Finally, the B2R would be remiss if I didn't mention one of my favorite baseball players is graduating this May.  As everybody knows, I love all the Bearcat baseball players.  I only single out a player or two that I wear the name and number of at ball games.  Cameron Bedard is going to play his final games as a Bearcat on Sunday and Tuesday so it was time the B2R retire the #11 shirt I have worn for a couple of seasons by having ol' stix sign it and take a picture.  It means a lot to the B2R and I appreciate Cam taking the time to do it.
