The fact of the matter is Northwest's starting pitching has been terrific and the bullpen has been exemplary. Once Northwest's bats heat up, the Bearcats are going to give nightmares to opposing coaches and pitching staffs.

Anthony Caenepeel is continuing his MIAA Pitcher of the Year-level performance this season. Anthony has a 3-1 record with a ridiculous 1.91 ERA in four starts this season. A hearty B2R "attaboy" to Eddy on an exemplary start to the 2017 season.

Unique statistical analysis -

Jay Hrdlicka, the pride of Des Moines, Iowa, is #2 on the team with a .514 slugging percentage, he is tied with the team lead in home runs, #2 on the team with a .426 on-base percentage, #4 on the team with RBIs, the only Bearcat with a triple, #3 on the team in walks, #3 on the team in hit by a pitch, #1 on the team in sacrifice bunts, #2 in stolen bases, and #1 in stolen base percentage. So what this tells the B2R is that Jay usually finds his way on base either by hitting the ball hard or walking. When he's on base, he is ornery and a distraction to the opposing pitcher. In other words, my kind of baseball player.

Next - Your Northwest Missouri State University Bearcat baseball team plays their home opener this weekend against Lindenwood University in a key MIAA match-up. The Bearcats will play a 3-game series this weekend against the Lions with a single 9-inning game each day on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. First pitch on Friday is set for 2pm. First pitch on Saturday is set for 2pm. First pitch on Sunday is set for 1pm.

The weather forecast looks great. According to the B2R's weather app on his trusty smartphone device, the projected high on Friday is set for 54 degrees. The projected high on Saturday is even better at 68 degrees. Sunday, all Bearcats attending the Bearcat baseball game receive free sunburns with a projected high of 67 degrees. Mmm mmm. Looks like an early case of spring fever is about to break out in the beautiful City of Maryville. Make sure to head on down to the ballpark to watch your Bearcats this weekend. The last time Northwest and Lindenwood collided, there was plenty of offense as both teams hit the ball all over the field.

Go Cats!!
