Happy 43rd birthday Matt Mason

Maryville, Mo. - Happy 43rd birthday, Matt.

Matt Mason played with your Northwest Missouri State Bearcat baseball team while he earned his degree. Following college, Matt served our country by joining the Navy SEALS. He was killed in action approximately 6 years ago, along with 29 other Navy SEALS, when the helicopter they were riding in was shot down in Afganistan. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack according to reports.

Your Northwest Missouri State Bearcat baseball team wears camouflage jerseys in honor of Matt's and all servicewomen and servicemen sacrifices to protect our country and the liberties we enjoy. We live in the greatest country in the world because the greatest people of the world are willing to protect it.

As told to the B2R by his Bearcat teammates, Matt was a hard working blue collar guy that earned everything he received. A great teammate. Later, a great family man to his wife and children. A great hero.

The B2R has a permanent tribute to Matt on the top right half of this site. As long as the B2R is on-line, we will all remember this great Bearcat.

One day there will be a proper tribute at Bearcat baseball field to the kind of person we want all Bearcats to become upon successfully completing their degrees at Northwest Missouri State, people like Matt Mason.

Go Cats!!
