Featured Rookie - Bryce Shea

Featured Rookie - Bryce Shea

Maryville, Mo. - Bryce Shea is today's featured rookie. Bryce is a good looking Junior from Santa Clarita, California. Bryce transferred to Northwest from CSU Dominguez Hills. Bryce stands 6'1" and weighs 195 pounds. Bryce is a right-handed submarine-style pitcher. Bryce has got an ornery streak in the dugout but on the mound he is all business and intensity.

Bryce battled his way to be Northwest's main set-up guy in the bullpen to get the ball to the closer. His submarine-style pitch is a dramatic change from the power arms in the starting rotation. Nothing that Bryce throws is straight. His release point is seemingly a mere few inches from the ground.

So far in 2016, Bryce has worked 22.0 innings pitched, 20 hits, 18 runs (17 earned), 13 walks, 21 strike-outs, 3 doubles, 2 home runs, 0 wild pitches, 0 balks, 0 hit batters, 3-0 W-L record, and a 6.95 ERA.

Bryce has been a terrific asset to the Bearcats' bullpen this season. A look at his statistics in 2016 leads me to think consistency in repeating his pitching mechanics is key for him to take the next step. Bryce is an impressive talent and I am glad he is a Bearcat. Coach Loe rewarded Bryce's hard work with high leverage pitching situations. Bryce appears to be quite popular with his teammates. By the looks of it, Bryce can give a hard time as much as he can take it. He has a million dollar smile with California good looks.

To the Bearcat Nation, the B2R is pleased to introduce Bryce Shea.

Go Cats!!
