Featured Rookie - Dane Appel
Maryville, Mo. - Monday's featured rookie is Dane Appel. Dane is a red-shirt freshman infielder for Northwest who can play both corners. The B2R has seen Dane take a majority of his plays at third base and he is a slick fielder with a soft glove and a strong arm. Good mobility. Dane is a proud alumni of Blair High School in Blair, Nebraska. Dane stands 5'11" and weighs 200 lbs. The 2015 NCAA season was Dane's first year at Northwest Missouri State University. Dane red-shirted that year and was named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll. Appel is a hard working kid, blue collar, team-first guy, great teammate, and goes about his business with a professional and mature mentality. Respects the game. Works hard during drills. The kind of guy you want on your team.
So far in 2016, Dane appeared in one game, received one at bat, and knocked one base hit for a perfect 1.000 batting average.
The B2R hopes Dane can find a way on the field or at the plate in 2016. Dane will continue to work hard and will earn that time soon enough. Ladies and gentlemen, the B2R is pleased to introduce the Bearcat nation to Dane Appel.
