Northwest's offense erupts, Bearcats win 18-4

Your Northwest Missouri State Bearcats scored a dozen runs in one inning and six more runs all within 7 innings to beat Fort Hays State 18-4 in game one in Hays, Kansas.  Your Bearcats starting nine was Brandon Huske, SS, Paul Johnson, 2B, Ryan Abernathy, CF, Eric McGlauflin, DH, Austin Wulff, LF, Steven Garber, 1B, Jon Pomatto, RF, Blade Hardegree, C, Zack Ferreira, 3B, and your starting pitcher was Ryker Fox.

Offensively, your Bearcats scored 18 runs off of 18 hits, 16 RBIs, and left 10 runners on base.  The offensive stars include Zack Ferreira who went 4 for 5 with 1 RBI and 3 RBIs; Steven Garber, who went 3 for 4 with a run scored; Blake Hardegree, who went 2 for 4 with a RBI and 2 runs scored; Paul Johnson, who went 2 for 4, with 1 RBI and 2 runs scored; Brandon Huske, who went 2 for 5 with 1 RBI, 1 walk, and 2 runs scored.  Every Bearcat batter with an official plate appearance had at least one hit in the game.

Defensively, the Bearcats were not charged with an error in the game.

Pitching, Ryker Fox earned the start for the Bearcats.  Ryker threw a complete game, 7.0 innings, victory, allowed 4 runs (all earned)(3 runs in the 7th and final frame when the Cats just tried to get 3 outs), 8 hits, 3 walks, 5 strike-outs, 1 wild pitch, 0 balks, and did not hit a batter.

Next for the Bearcats - Northwest continues its 4-game series with Fort Hays State with a double-header on Saturday, March 22.  First pitch is 1pm.
