Western defeats Northwest 10-5

St. Joseph, Mo. - A tough day at the ballpark ended Northwest's winning streak as Missouri Western won 10-5 in St. Joseph on Tuesday. A combination of the Bearcats' trademark defense with a tough day in 3 errors, an obstruction call for Northwest's first baseman colliding with the Western runner rounding first, bats that started strong but faded until the game was out of reach, and pitching that caught too much of the plate all contributed to the loss. All in all, tip your cap to Western, put it on the record, then forget about it as a day where the breaks were against the boys.

Offensively, James Holler and Luke Hassman were Northwest's most valuable players in the game. Holler went 2 for 4 with 1 RBI in the game. Hassman went 2 for 5 with 1 RBI and 1 run scored in the game. Garrett Fort went 1 for 4 with 1 RBI, 1 walk and 1 run scored on the day. Landon Figg went 1 for 4 with 1 RBI, 1 run scored and 1 walk in the game. Ozzie Adams and Jay Hrdlicka each had a hit in the game. Kolby Greenslade went 1 for 4 with 1 run scored on the day. Logan Rycraft hit a double, earned a walk and scored a run in the game. In total, Northwest scored 5 runs off of 10 hits, 4 RBIs, 3 walks, 7 strike-outs, and left 10 runners on base.

Defensively, Northwest committed 3 errors in the game.

Pitching, Eddy Kraber earned the start but picked-up a loss to see his 2017 record go to 2-1. In total, Eddy worked 3.1 inning, allowed 9 hits, 4 runs, 1 walk, 1 strike-out and hit 1 batter. Quintin VanAckeren came into the game and worked 2.0 innings, allowed 1 hit, 1 run, 0 walks and 4 strike-outs in the game. Jacob Wagner came into the game in the 6th inning and worked 0.2 of an inning, allowed 3 hits and 1 run in the game. In the 7th inning, Austin Battaglia came into the game and worked 1.0 inning, allowed 1 hit, 1 run, 2 walks, 1 strike-out and 2 wild pitches. In the 8th inning, Nikko Pablo came into the game and worked 1.0 inning, allowed 3 hits, 3 runs, 0 walks, 1 hit batter and 1 strike-out.
