King Caenepeel Aces Bronchos


Maryville, Mo. - Anthony Caenepeel threw 8.1 innings of shut-out baseball as Northwest beat Central Oklahoma 2-0 to win Game 1 of the series on Friday in Maryville. Northwest's defense was equally terrific as the Bearcats played an error free game. Add in Big Game James Holler's 2-run home run and Nikko Pablo's clutch performance in the 9th and your Bearcats picked-up an important conference win. Northwest is now 25-15, 14-13 MIAA with Friday's win. The Bearcats are in 6th place in the MIAA standings.

Offensively, James Holler was the most valuable player in the game. James hit the 2-run homer in the 4th inning to give the Bearcats all the offense they would need to win the game. In total, James went 1 for 3 with 2 RBIs and a run scored in the game. Logan Rycraft, Ozzie Adams, Garrett Fort, and Kolby Greenslade each earned a hit in the game. Jay Hrdlicka earned a walk as Northwest's catcher. In total, Northwest scored 2 runs off of 5 hits, 2 RBIs, 1 walk, 6 strike-outs, and left 3 runners on base.

Defensively, Northwest did not commit an error in the game.

Pitching, Anthony Caenepeel was magnificent as the righty threw 8.1 innings of shut-out baseball against a top notch offensive opponent. In total, Anthony worked 8.1 innings, allowed 4 hits, 0 runs, 1 walk and 7 strike-outs in the game. With runners on 1st and 3rd in the 9th inning, Coach Loe called on Nikko Pablo to close out the game. Nikko was clutch and struck-out the 2 UCO batters he faced to freeze the runners on base and captured a Northwest victory. In total, Nikko worked 0.2 of an inning, allowed no hits, no runs, no walks and struck-out the 2 batters he faced. Huge pitching performance by both Bearcats. Anthony Caenepeel's 2017 record now stands at 6-5. Nikko Pablo's performance earned him his 7th save of the season.
