Series preview - University of Nebraska at Kearney

The Northwest Missouri State University Bearcats baseball team travels to Kearney, Nebraska, to take on the Lopers of the University of Nebraska-Kearney in a two-game mid-week double header. 

The Lopers stand at 19-18, 16-15 MIAA thus far in 2013 and are presently in the 8th and final spot for the MIAA post-season baseball tournament.  The Lopers enter the double header against Northwest in a bit of a tailspin having lost their previous 4 games and are 4-6 in their last 10 games.  The Lopers have 7 regulars that are batting .314 or better with one starter, Brian Wuest, batting .413 with 12 home runs, 52 RBIs, Slugging .835, On-base .558.

Defensively, the Lopers have a team fielding percentage of .951 and average 1.81 errors per game.

Pitching, the Lopers have a team ERA of 6.97 and allow an average of 6.05 earned runs per game, 7.48 runs per game, and 1.44 unearned runs per game.

Northwest's offense has been hot lately and the Bearcats are winning more games as a result.  The Bearcats have won 5 of their last 8 games, and two of those loses came at Emporia State.  The Bearcats have 4 regulars batting .318 or better with Eric Swain and Ryan Abernathy quickly closing in on .300 due to their recent hot streak.  As a team, Northwest is batting .289, slugging .436, and have an on-base % of .380.

Defensively, Northwest is fielding at a .968 clip averaging 1.12 errors per game.

Pitching, the Bearcats have a team ERA of 6.91 and allow an average of 6.2 earned runs per game, 6.85 runs per game, and 0.65 unearned runs per game.
