Bearcats sweep Blue Tigers

On a nice, but windy, Sunday afternoon, Northwest beat Lincoln University 10-3 in game 3 of the series to complete the sweep of the Blue Tigers at Bearcat field on the campus of Northwest Missouri State University.  With the win, Northwest has won 5 straight games and saw its 2013 record advance to 19-25, 16-22 MIAA.  With the loss, Lincoln's 2013 record fell to 5-31, 4-27 MIAA.

Offensively, Eric McGlauflin, DH, led the way with his 3 for 5 performance at the plate with 3 RBIs and a run scored.  Brandon Huske, SS, went 2 for 3 with a RBI, 2 runs scored, and 2 walks in the game.  Cameron Bedard went 2 for 4 with a RBI and a run scored.  Steven Garber, 1B, did not have an official plate appearance with 3 walks and a run scored in the game.  Eric Swain, 3B, went 1 for 3 with 2 RBIs, 2 runs scored, and a walk in the game.  Tyler Durant, RF, went 1 for 4 with a run scored.  In total, Northwest scored 10 runs off of 9 hits, 8 RBIs, 8 walks, 6 strike-outs, and left 8 runners on base. 

Defensively, Northwest committed one error (Swain) and executed 1 double-play in the game.

Pitching, Chase Anderson earned the start and the win with a dominant 7 innings of work on Sunday afternoon.  In total, Chase worked 7.0 innings, allowed 11 hits, 2 runs (only 1 earned), 0 walks, 0 strike-outs, 1 wild pitch, 0 balks, and did not hit a batter.  Patrick Brady came into the game in the 8th inning with Northwest leading the game 8-2 but had a tough outing.  In total, Brady worked 0.1 inning, allowed 1 hit, 1 run (earned), 1 walk, 1 strike-out, 0 wild pitches, 0 balks, and hit 1 batter.  Jacob Raffaele came in the game with 1 out in the 8th inning and closed out the game.  In total, Jacob worked 1.2 innings, allowed 0 hits, 0 runs, 0 walks, 1 strike-out, 0 wild pitches, 0 balks, and did not hit a batter.

Next up for the Bearcats, Northwest hosts Fort Hays State in a 2-game double header to conclude the NCAA 2013 regular season home schedule.  First pitch is set for 1pm on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, on Bearcat Field on the campus of Northwest Missouri State University.
