Bearcat notables -

Austin Wulf earned his first collegiate start, as a true freshman, on Friday, February 14th, at Cameron University, in left field and smashed his first two collegiate home runs against the Aggies.  Austin has scored 4 runs and slugging .500 while not committing an error.  Austin has hit the ball hard every at bat and plays with an edge that will make him a fan favorite with the Bearcat Nation.

Hondo Pearcy made his Bearcat debut on Friday, February 14, 2014, at Cameron University.

He worked 2.0 innings, 0 hits, 0 runs, 0 walks, and 3 strike-outs, in Game 2, and worked 1.2 innings, 0 hits, 0 runs, 0 walks, and a strike-out, in Game 4.

Hondo's 0.00 ERA is very impressive and Coach Loe has put him in high leverage situations where he has not yet allowed a hit, a run, or a walk.  Hondo has struck-out 4 batters in his impressive Bearcat debut weekend.

Kole Klocko made his Bearcat debut and first career start at Northwest Missouri State University on Friday at Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma.

Kole worked 4.1 innings and allowed 3 runs albeit during a game where defensive lapses by the 'Cats were an issue.  Kole's presence on the mound was remarkable.  A leader.  When the call came for a relief pitcher, Kole gave the ball to the pitcher, slapped the guy on the backside as a "go get'em" gesture and left the field, but remained up front in the dug-out cheering on the team.  When the Bearcats recorded the 3rd out of the inning that Kole got pulled, Kole was the first one out of the dugout to high five the fielders and pitcher coming in.

Jon Pomatto hit the Bearcats first home run of 2014 in Game 2 versus the Cameron Aggies at Lawton, Oklahoma.  Jon also picked-up the 'Cats first save of 2014 with his dominant 9th inning in Game 4.

Jon is batting .278 after 6 games, scored 6 runs, 5 hits, 1 double, 1 home run, 3 RBIs, .500 slugging, 4 walks, .409 on-base %, while playing a perfect right field.

As a closer, Jon has a 0.00 ERA, 1.0 inning pitched, 0 runs, 0 hits, and 1 strike-out.

Luke Wilkinson made his Bearcat debut off the bench and played 1B for Steven Garber in Game 2, and pinch hit in Game 3.

Luke has only had 2 at-bats but he has had good plate appearances and a .333 on-base %.

Tanner Smith made his Bearcat debut in Game 3 versus the Cameron Aggies and worked 1.1 inning without allowing a hit or run and a strike-out.

Tanner's ERA of 0.00 leads the team with 4 other Bearcats.

Brandon Huske has started every game at short stop.  Huske's .476 batting average is tops on the team.  Huske has scored 4 runs, 10 hits, 1 double, 6 RBIs, .524 slugging, 2 walks, 2 hit by pitches, .538 on-base.

Eric McLauglin has started all 6 games this season as either a DH or 1B.  Eric's .350 batting average is 2nd on the team.  Eric scored 2 runs, 7 hits, 1 triple, 5 RBIs, .450 slugging, 3 walks, 1 hit by pitch, and a .440 on-base.

Zack Ferreira has started all 6 games as a true freshman at 3B for the Bearcats.  Zack's .316 batting average is 3rd best on the team.  Zack has scored 2 runs, 6 hits, 2 doubles, 1 RBI, .421 slugging, 1 walk, and a .350 on-base percentage.

Zack has played a perfect 3B and yet to be charged with an error.

Paul Johnson has started 5 games, all at 2B, and is tied for third on the team in batting average with .316.  Paul has scored 5 runs, 6 hits, 2 doubles, 1 home run, 3 RBIs, .579 slugging, 2 walks, and a .381 on-base percentage.
