Summer Update - Chris Green

Summer update - Chris Green signed with the Baltimore Orioles in the summer of 2012 and was assigned to the Gulf Coast League Orioles in Sarasota, Florida.  Prior to signing with the Orioles, Chris spent the 2012 summer pitching for the St. Joseph Mustangs of the M.I.N.K. League college summer woodbat league.  Chris was the Mustangs closer and appeared in 12 M.I.N.K. league games, worked 13.0 innings, allowed 7 hits, 3 earned runs, 7 walks, 15 strike-outs, 1 win, 3 losses, 3 saves, and a remarkable 2.08 ERA.

Chris appeared in 4 non-M.I.N.K. league games, worked 3.1 innings, allowed 1 hit, 0 earned runs, 2 walks, 5 strike-outs, and had a 0.00 ERA.

In the professional ranks, Chris has appeared in 2 games for the Gulf Coast League Orioles, worked 2.0 innings, allowed 1 hit, 0 runs, 0 walks, 5 strike-outs, and 0.00 ERA.

Nobody deserves a chance to play professional baseball more than Chris Green.  Chris battled back from Tommy John surgery, rushed through rehab of his elbow, just to help out the 'Cats in the spring of 2012.  Chris has a heart of a lion and worked his butt off for everything.  Chris's devotion to his team is best summarized that he lived and breathed the slogan "Team above one's self."  A lot of people can claim to put team first but few walk the walk.  Chris repeatedly received praise from the coaching staff for his hard work.  The B2R had the opportunity to get to know Chris over the 2012 summer.  Chris was a real gem and acted like a protective big brother to little Alex.  Count the B2R is a big fan of Chris Gren.
