Northwest defeats Midland 4-3, Emporia next

Fremont, Nebraska - Your Northwest Missouri State University Bearcats baseball team picked-up a road victory on Tuesday, April 15, 2014, when they traveled to Fremont, Nebraska, and defeated the Midland University Warriors 4-3 in a 9-inning game.  The Bearcats used the formula of pitching, defense, and timely hitting to come away with the non-conference victory.  With the victory, Northwest's record is now 21-17, 15-14 MIAA.

Your Bearcats starting nine included Ryan Abernathy, CF, Zack Ferreira, 3B, Eric McLaughlin, DH, Jon Pomatto, RF, Austin Wulff, LF, Steven Garber, 1B, Nikko Pablo, 2B, Blake Hardegree, C, Brandon Huske, SS, and your starting pitcher was Kole Klocko.

Offensively, Northwest scored 4 runs off of 7 hits, 3 RBIs, 9 walks, 4 strike-outs, and left 13 runners on base.  Your two offensive stars of the game were Austin Wulff, who went 2 for 5 (including a double) with a RBI and a run scored, and Nikko Pablo, who went 2 for 3 (including a double) with a walk, a RBI, and a run scored.  Jon Pomatto went 1 for 3 officially with a run scored and 2 walks.  Ryan Abernathy went 1 for 4 with a walk and a RBI.  Brandon Huske went 1 for 3 officially at the plate with a run scored and a walk.  Despite not picking up a hit in the game, both Zack Ferreira and Eric McLaughlin each walked twice.

Defensively, Northwest was not charged with an error and turned 1 double-play.
