Salute to the Military Day at Northwest Baseball - April 7

Ladies and Gentlemen:

It is a rare occurrence that the B2R would not have a weekend recap and opponent analysis so I'm sure inquiring minds wanted to know what was up with the B2R.  You are right to suspect something has been brewing at One B2R Lane, Maryville, Missouri.

Everybody should plan to attend the April 7th double-header versus Missouri Western.  First Pitch is 1:00pm.

The B2R has partnered up with 9 other individuals or entities to turn April 7th's games against Missouri Western into a special "Salute to the US Military" Day.  Importantly, the 9 following individuals got together to come up with an idea how the Bearcat Nation could pay respect to the servicewomen and servicemen of our Armed Forces, plus pay tribute to our Brother Bearcat Matt Mason.  Matt Mason played Left Field for the Bearcats in the early to mid-90s.  After Matt graduated, he served our Country as a Navy SEAL.  In August 2011, Matt was one of the Navy SEALs that died in Afghanistan.  The B2R had the privilege of meeting some of Matt's teammates that wanted to do something to remember him and remind everybody of the sacrifices that our military makes so we can enjoy the freedoms and privileges we do.

This special day could not have happened without some money.  A huge thank you to some Bearcat Baseball greats:  Britt Westman, Ryley Westman, John White, Jon Henne, Jr., and Brian Kever, all of whom contributed financial resources to pull this thing off.

Also equally contributing to this cause was Robert Sundell, Attorney at Law, Coach Darin Loe, and the B2R.  Everybody contributed equally to accomplish this feat.

A hearty B2R thank you also goes to the fine folks at Jock's Nitch.  Jock's Nitch stepped up to the plate to help make this event happen.  Bryce Buholt and Phil Minton of Jock's Nitch are big Bearcat fans and supporters.

Finally, and most important, thank you to Wren Baker and the Northwest Athletics' Department for supporting this endeavor.  This special day will be put on at no additional cost to the University.  When the B2R addressed the idea with Wren and the Athletics' staff, they were extremely supportive and have come through with a marketing push to help make that weekend one for all Bearcat spring sports to shine.  Northwest will soon announce a special "SPRING SHOWCASE" on its website to promote the Baseball salute to the military, the softball team's home game, and the day's track and field meet.

I haven't even mentioned one of the best parts for Baseball's Salute to the US Military day on April 7th.

Everybody ready?

Stay tuned.  I figured the team should hear it first.  It will be very special.  I cannot think of something like this happening before although I will defer to the Sports Information Department to confirm or refute.

Trust me.  You will want to come to the April 7th games.

When you work so hard to accomplish a goal, you realize you need a lot of people to help get you there.  It takes a lot of support for our Bearcats to graduate with a degree.  It took a lot of support to get this idea planned, accomplished, and executed.

Please plan to attend April 7th baseball games versus Missouri Western.  First Pitch is 1:00pm.  There is no admissions charge.  Bring your Bearcat Support and love of country with you.  I believe this will be one of the most moving experiences in the history of Bearcat Baseball.

Go Cats!!
