Bearcat baseball alum Nick Gotta with smashing rookie year in pro ball


Santa Fe, NM - Nick Gotta's rookie season in professional baseball was an outstanding success in 2017. Nick spent the summer playing for the Santa Fe Fuego baseball club in the PECOS league. Nick appeared in 57 games and mostly at second base for the 2017 Fuego. Gotta had a .374 batting average in 235 plate appearances. Of Nick's 88 hits, 13 were doubles and 10 were home runs. Nick scored 83 runs and batted in 51 runners on base. Nick earned 47 walks and struck out 25 times. He stole 22 bases in 26 attempts. According to the Santa Fe Fuego's website, Nick had the highest "Hitter Score" on the team at 345. The second place batter on the "Hitter Score" was a distant 288.

Following the season, Nick will return to his home in San Diego where he will continue to train. Judging by his rookie year performance, Nick is going to grab the attention of the baseball community with his continued performance in professional baseball.
