Summer Update - Eric Swain

Summer Update - Eric Swain will enter the 2012-2013 academic year as a senior for the Northwest Missouri State University Bearcats Baseball team.  Eric spent the summer playing for Team Vegas of the California Collegiate League.  In the spring 2012 NCAA season, Eric was the everyday starting shortstop for the Bearcats.  An offensive Juggernaut, Swain had a 2012 NCAA season fit for the record books.

During the 2012 Summer, Eric played in a reserve role for Team Vegas.  In total, Eric appeared in 25 games, had 47 official plate appearances, scored 9 runs, earned 17 hits, 3 RBIs, 5 walks, 12 strike-outs, 2 stolen bases, a remarkable .434 on-base percentage, a .404 slugging percentage, and an exemplary .362 batting average.

Eric doesn't say a lot but his bat speaks volumes.  He played in a premier summer college wood-bat league and earned some quality work.  Offensively, Eric is a professional baseball quality player for Northwest.  The next step is for Eric to defensively get his fielding percentage up around .970-.989.  You are talking All-American candidate if Eric could pull it off.  The B2R wouldn't suggest it if it wasn't possible.  Eric is filthy good.  It will be exciting to see how Eric ends his Bearcat career in 2013.  I've got a hunch it will not be the last time he plays baseball.

Go Cats!!
