Summer Update - Chase Anderson

Summer Update - Chase Anderson, left-handed pitcher for Northwest Missouri State University Bearcats Baseball will be entering as a Senior for the 2012-2013 academic year.  Chase is Northwest's reigning 2-time Pitcher of the Year having won the award following the 2011 and 2012 spring NCAA season.  Chase spent the summer pitching for the Chillicothe Mudcats of the M.I.N.K. League (a summer college wood-bat league).

In 2012, the Chillicothe Mudcats finished 2nd in the M.I.N.K. North Division, 3.5 games behind North Division winner St. Joseph Mustangs.  The Mudcats finished their 2012 M.I.N.K. record at 23-19 and advanced to the NBC Regional Finals held in St. Joseph (knocked off host St. Joseph Mustangs in the process).

In 2012, Chase appeared in 12 games, finished with 3 wins and 3 losses, earned a 2.77 ERA, started 5 games, earned 2 saves, worked 48.2 innings, 33 strike-outs versus only 11 walks.  Chase started the year in the Mudcats bullpen but earned his way as a starter mid-way through the season.  That is pretty typical Chase Anderson style where he spotted in a relief role only to outperform and excel and earn his way as a starter.  Chase has done that every year at Northwest, too.  During the Spring 2012 NCAA season, Chase started the year as the 4th Starter only to become the #1 starter by April.  Chase is a great person, a fiery competitor, and great clubhouse guy.  He's got team leader capabilities with a quiet confidence and work ethic to police the younger guys how to prepare their bodies and minds for MIAA baseball.  The key originator of "Moustache March," Chase finds ways to build team morale and spirit.  With so many pitchers expected to join the Bearcats baseball team this fall, I'm not sure where in the starting rotation Chase will begin the 2013 season, but I expect he will end the 2013 season as the Game 1 starter of the 2013 MIAA Post-Season Tournament.

Go Cats!!
