Series Recap - Truman (Games 1 & 2 only)

Despite Truman only scoring 4 runs, Northwest had a tough day in all phases (hitting, defense, and pitching) and lost Game 1 by a score 2-4 in a 7-inning contest in Kirksville.  Chris Green earned the start but saw his season record fall to 2-3 after he worked 3.1 innings, allowed 5 hits, 4 runs (3 earned), 4 walks, 1 strike-out, 1 wild pitch, and hit 2 batters.  Carson Smith came in to relieve Chris and was a real bright spot for the Bearcats in the game.  Carson worked 2.2 innings, allowed 2 hits, 0 runs, 0 walks, 0 strike-outs, 0 wild pitches, 0 balks, and hit 1 batter.

Defensively, the Bearcats were charged with 2 errors that lead to 1 unearned run.

Offensively, the Bearcats scored 2 runs off of 8 hits, 1 RBI, 2 walks, 8 strike-outs, and left 9 runners on base.  The offensive stars for the game included:

Cameron Bedard
Went 3 for 3 with a walk
1 RBI
1 run scored
0 runners left on base
Stole 1 base
Hit a double in the game

Tyler Durant
went 2 for 4 in the game

Ryan Abernathy
went 1 for 4 (a double)
1 run scored

In addition, Eric McGlauflin and Alex Singleton both earned a hit in the game.  The game took 1:59 to complete and was played in front of an announced crowd of 102 spectators.  The weather was partly sunny and in the 70s with a stiff breeze.

In Game 2, Northwest lost a heart breaker by a score of 2-3 with the game's winning run on 2nd base before the third and final out of the game.  Chase Anderson pitched his heart out in the game.  Despite pitching 8.0 innings, allowing 8 hits, 3 runs (all earned), 0 walks, 7 strike-outs, and 1 wild pitch, Chase saw his season record fall to 2-5 on the year.

Defensively, the Bearcats played a real solid game and were charged with 1 error which did not lead to an unearned run.

Offensively, the Bearcats scored 2 runs off of 8 hits, 2 RBIs, 5 walks, 6 strike-outs, and left 14 runners on base.  The offensive stars are as follows:

Cameron Bedard
went 2 for 4
1 RBI
1 walk

Ryan Abernathy
went 2 for 3
1 run scored
1 walk
Reached base after he got hit by a pitch

Also in the game, Alex Singleton, Eric McGlauflin, Tyler Durant (a double), and Cole Mapes all earned a hit in the game.  The game took 2:25 to complete.  The announced attendance was 84 spectators.  Beautiful sunny weather, mid 70s, and stiff wind.

Judging by the number of runners left on base, it appears to the B2R that Truman ran into quite a bit of good fortune in both games.  I'm looking for the Bearcats offense to absolutely explode in Games 3 & 4 as Truman lived dangerously all day long.  The Bulldogs luck is about to run out.

I predict a Bearcat sweep Sunday.

Go Cats!!
