Bearcat baseball alum Nick Gotta with smashing rookie year in pro ball

Santa Fe, NM - Nick Gotta's rookie season in professional baseball was an outstanding success in 2017. Nick spent the summer playing for the Santa Fe Fuego baseball club in the PECOS league. Nick appeared in 57 games and mostly at second base for the 2017 Fuego. Gotta had a .374 batting average in 235 plate appearances. Of Nick's 88 hits, 13 were doubles and 10 were home runs. Nick scored 83 runs and batted in 51 runners on base. Nick earned 47 walks and struck out 25 times. He stole 22 bases in 26 attempts. According to the Santa Fe Fuego's website, Nick had the highest "Hitter Score" on the team at 345. The second place batter on the "Hitter Score" was a distant 288.

Following the season, Nick will return to his home in San Diego where he will continue to train. Judging by his rookie year performance, Nick is going to grab the attention of the baseball community with his continued performance in professional baseball.

Hughes Fieldhouse - Revolutionary Impact on Bearcat baseball & community

Maryville, Mo. - The Northwest Missouri State University and Maryville community are doubling-down on all Bearcat varsity sports teams by building a huge indoor complex called the Carl & Cheryl Hughes Fieldhouse. The Hughes Fieldhouse will be located northwest of College Park and Bearcat football stadium on the Northwest campus. The Fieldhouse will be a host site for a wide range of University and community activites. The biggest contribution to Northwest Missouri State University will be to the spring varsity sports programs such as the Bearcat baseball team, the Bearcat softball team, and Bearcat track and field teams. The project to construct the Hughes Fieldhouse is the single largest public-private partnership in Northwest's 112-year history. The Maryville community approved a hotel-bed tax a year or so ago where part of the revenue generated from the tax will help pay the cost of the building. When it comes to putting your money where your heart is, the Maryville community stepped up to make this revolutionary project a reality.

As stated above, the Hughes Fieldhouse's biggest benefactors will be the Northwest spring sports programs in baseball, softball, and track and field. The Fieldhouse will feature 137,250 square feet of recreation, multi-purpose and exhibition space. In other words, there is an indoor practice facility for Bearcat baseball and softball to finally have the ability to practice at full speed with game dimensions during their seasons. If there is a cold or extremely snowy spring in Maryville, the Bearcat baseball team will still be able to do a full infield workout and outfield drills at game speed. Previously, your Bearcat baseball team would make it work with 3 batting cages and 2-3 mounds in the basement of Bearcat Arena. The team would do infield drills with rubber baseballs on a covered basketball court in Bearcat Arena until the weather warmed up for the season. The Hughes Fieldhouse will now give your Bearcat baseball team a recruiting and performance bonus that is necessary for northern college baseball teams to win and challenge for championships. The Hughes Fieldhouse will have a 100-yard practice turf, 300-meter indoor competition track, spectator seating, and tiered meeting rooms.

The entire Hughes Fieldhouse project will cost an estimated $20 million dollars to complete.

There is approximately $500,000 left to raise to complete this amazing project. Since your Bearcat baseball team is one of the biggest benefactors with this project, there is an opportunity for Bearcat baseball families, fans, and alumni to step-up to raise the remaining amount by making a donation in one of the several ways where donors can see the impact of their contribution. As of right now, Bearcat baseball fans, families, and alumni can donate money and have a brick or paver etched with your name ($150-$300). In addition, Northwest is part of the Missouri Arborteum and donors can have a tree planted in their name in a Walk of Champions for $1,500. In addition, donors can place a bench along the Walk of Champions in their name for $5,000. According to Northwest, financial gifts of $10,000 will be honored via a video donor list in the facility. Finally, the Founding 50 is a team of leadership donors who commit gifts of $50,000 or more. The Founding 50 members will be honored at the facility's donor wall

Adam Bailey announces selection to NWMSU M-Club Hall of Fame

Maryville, Mo. - Adam Bailey announced on his Facebook account that he was selected to the Northwest Missouri State University M-Club Hall of Fame. Adam Bailey left a remarkable legacy with his playing days at Northwest Missouri State. Bailey has several school records for career production still standing in the entire history of Northwest fielding a varsity baseball team. Adam Bailey played summer ball in the Ban Johnson league in Kansas City from 1998 to 2001. Bailey was named to the All-75 year team for his exemplary play representing him as the top 1% of the 5,000 players who have played Ban Johnson baseball over the years. Bailey played for the United Missouri bank team of the Ban Johnson league. Bailey won the league MVP award and batting title in 2000 with a .459 average. Bailey's UMB team won the Ban Johnson league title in 2000. Bailey's .459 batting average was one of the best ever marks in league history. Bailey hit a home run in the 1999 Ban Johnson league all star game held at Kauffman Stadium.

Among his teammates, Adam was nick named "Beetle" as in Beetle Bailey the comic strip.

His favorite player was George Brett and loves hot wings.

Bearcat alum Jordan Bischel has his Northwood University baseball team 1 win from the College World Series

"Just like last night night, tonight was just an outstanding college baseball game. Matt Stojkov was tremendous and we had several key hits. Our team will be excited to be a part of a fun day on Monday." Jordan Bischel, Head Coach, Northwood University in Midland, Michigan.

Midland, MI - Bearcat alum Jordan Bischel has guided his Northwood University baseball team to the steps of the NCAA Division 2 College World Series. Bischel's team is one win away from a trip to Grand Prairie, Texas. Northwood will play in the Midwest Regional Tournament Championship on Monday (May 22) at 12 pm. Their opponent will be determined tomorrow, as Wayne State, Kentucky Wesleyan and Quincy are the remaining teams.

Jordan Bischel spent three seasons as the pitching coach for Northwest Missouri State University as he worked on his graduate studies from 2010 to 2012. Thanks to Coach Bischel and other Bearcat coaches, Northwest's pitching staff registered a MIAA leading 3.44 team ERA in 2011 and a berth in the MIAA conference tournament in 2010.

Back to Northwood - Northwood University is 46-11 this season with a 26-6 conference record. Northwood beat Tiffin to win the GLIAC tournament prior to the NCAA tournament. It was the first time Northwood won the conference tournament in school history. Northwood entered the tournament as the #1 seed because they also were the GLIAC Conference regular season champions for the first time in school history. Northwood finished with 39 wins (a school record) and 26 conference wins (a school record) this season. Bischel was named the GLIAC Coach of the year on May 10th.

Coach Bischel is in his 3rd year as head coach of Northwood University. Entering the 2017 season, Bischel had a 53-47 record at Northwood and 127-92 record as a head coach. Prior to coaching at Northwood, Jordan was the head coach at Midland University in Fremont, Nebraska, for two seasons. Bischel's first team at Midland University made an 18 wins improvement from the previous year. Bischel's second team at Midland University set conference and school record for most wins in a season.

Personal - Despite being a Green Bay Packers fan, Jordan is a great person. All kidding aside, Jordan and Katie are passionate Packers fans when they are away from the baseball field. Katie earned her graduate degree at Northwest Missouri State as well. The couple just welcomed twin boys this spring. Its been a terrific spring for the Bischel family.
