Maryville, Mo. - A thrilling weekend of Bearcat baseball as Northwest swept the Missouri Southern Lions by winning Game 3 on Sunday by the score 4-3. Your Bearcats had a quality start out of Brad Roberts and another shut-down performance by the bullpen in the game. The Bearcat bullpen worked 3.0 innings of scoreless relief. Northwest was down 3-2 heading to the bottom of the 6th inning. Northwest proceeded to score two runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to take the lead. Northwest is now 24-10, 13-8 MIAA on the year. As of 5pm on April 9th, Northwest is in 4th place in the MIAA standings in a tie with the University of Central Missouri.
Offensively, Kolby Greenslade and Garrett Fort each earned co-most valuable player in the game. Kolby, RF/LF, went 3 for 3 with a stolen base and 2 runs scored in the game. Garrett Fort, CF, went 2 for 4 with a stolen base and 2 RBIs on the day. Landon Figg went 1 for 4 with 1 run scored as the Bearcat third baseman. Jay Hrdlicka, DH, went 1 for 3 with 1 RBI, 1 walk and 1 run scored in the game. Alix Herrera went 1 for 4 with 1 RBI as the Bearcat catcher in the game. Herrera hit the game winning run for Northwest. In total, Northwest scored 4 runs off of 9 hits, 4 RBIs, 1 walk, 7 strike-outs, and left 6 runners on base.
Defensively, Northwest did not commit an error in the game.
Pitching, Brad Roberts earned the start for Northwest in the game. Brad went 6 innings and earned the victory to see his 2017 record advance to 4-3. In total, Brad worked 6.0 innings, allowed 5 hits, 3 runs, 3 walks, 3 strike-outs and hit 1 batter in the game. Austin Battaglia came into the game in the 7th inning and worked 2.0 innings, allowed 0 hits, 0 runs, 0 walks, and struck out 1 batter in the game. Nikko Pablo came into the game in the 9th inning and allowed 0 runs, 0 hits, 0 walks and 0 strike-outs.
