Play-offs Opposition Research - University of Central Missouri

Maryville, Mo. - The key to the Bearcat baseball team's success against Central Missouri is the one facet of the game they have the most control over - defense. Should the Bearcats play high quality defense and avoid what every other MIAA conference team has done this season (give UCM 1.19 extra runs per game via errors), the Bearcats can win their match-up with the Mules.

UCM offense - The Mules are ranked as the 10th best offense according to the MIAA website with a batting average of .300, and average 7.21 runs per game. The 7.21 runs per game does include unearned runs where the opposing team erred that later resulted in the run scoring. UCM scored 277 earned runs for an average of 6.02 runs per game. As a result, opposing teams have given the Mules 1.19 extra runs in every game played this season.

In comparison, Northwest has averaged 6.18 runs per game.

UCM pitching - The strength of the Mules baseball program is its pitching. The Mules are the #1 ranked pitching squad in the MIAA with a team ERA of 3.88.

In comparison, Northwest has a team ERA of 5.13 which is good for 5th in the MIAA.

UCM fielding - The Mules have the 4th ranked defense in the MIAA with a .967 fielding percentage.

In comparison, Northwest has the 10th ranked defense with a .956 fielding percentage.

Go Cats!!
