I don't know any other way to describe Chris Green than what's above.  You will have some Jacks, some Queens, even some Kings, but then there's the ACE.  Whenever Chris Green pitches for Northwest, the Bearcats can beat anybody in the MIAA.  Period.  Chris came into the 2011 season nursing an elbow injury.  In the end, Chris had to shut it down to have Tommy John surgery.  Personally, it was the first time I had seen someone so soon following the surgery.  It looked like it hurt Chris to stand, to sit, to move, to breathe.  My heart went out to the kid.  Chris has had to go through some extensive rehabilitation to try and be healthy for the 2012 NCAA season.  The coaches certainly believe in him.  If he can be healthy and ready to pitch by February 2012 then he will accomplish a feat that professional major league pitchers cannot do in such short time.  If anybody can do it, its Chris.  Hands down the guy has balls.  My kind of ball player.  If someone asks me to name the top 7 greatest Bearcat pitchers of all-time - Chris makes the list.  To say Chris has gone through some adversity is the biggest understatement ever:  in addition to TJ surgery, Chris' hometown of Joplin was hit with a catastrophic tornado.  God sent a blessing to Northwest Missouri State University and its #26 Chris Green.  If he's healthy, he's your Friday starter.

Comments - Hort is a talent....like a Bill Disselhoff talent.  Can Pitch, play a position, and hit.  Hort threw a no-no during summer ball.  Great kid.  I'd like to see him in the line-up everyday with his offensive production certain to improve off of a solid .274 campaign in 2011.  If I remember correctly, I am certain I saw Hort play at 3B in the fall.  I don't know if 3B/DH/C/P all within one series has been done in the MIAA but I'd like to consider it an option to maximize his bat plus give Lando a breather plus be able to pitch.  I'd personally like to see Hort develop into the closer where Northwest can take advantage of him on the field then have him come in the 7th/9th to close it out.  Time will tell as far as how Coach Loe, Creason, Bischel, and Stein decide to maximize his talents.  Hort's a great kid.  He is a Pre-Professional Zoology major which means he is smarter than me.  I don't know if my attempts to persuade him to consider law school are being legitimately considered but one can always hope.  I haven't had the pleasure to meet his family yet but considering Hort's maturity and work ethic, they did an amazing job of raising the young man.  The picture below is one of my favorite photos of Hort.  He's on the mound...definitely in Beast Mode.

Northwestbearcats.com - Baseball Camps set for January

Maryville, Mo. - The Northwest Missouri State baseball program will host three winter camps in January at Bearcat Arena on the Northwest campus.

The first session begins January 21, 2011, from 10am-4pm and is for boys ages 14 through high school seniors. Check-in begins at 9am with pitching and catching mechanics work starting at 10am.

The second session will start January 22, 2011, and also run from 10am-4pm with a Q&A following the clinic. The second clinic focus on hitting, base running and defensive skills also for boys ages 14 through high school senior. The application deadline for the first two sessions is January 16 and cost is $60 per session.

Comments - I don't know if you will find more of a player/coach maturity than Sean Brady.  He demonstrated a leadership role during 2011 fall practice that the team needs heading into the 2012 NCAA season.  I'm a big fan of Sean Brady and I'm rooting for him to have a big winter and spring to contribute in the 2012 NCAA season.  In 2011, he didn't get much of a shot.  Period.  The one shot he did get, he got shelled pretty good.  With a solid summer baseball performance and a strong fall, I'm looking for Sean to step-up and throw consistent quality strikes this spring.  There are a lot of guys competing for playing time in 2012.  Sean has put in his time and B2R is hoping Sean finds a nitch as a bridge reliever, closer, or midweek starter.  The sky is the limit.  Sean's make-up and maturity are way ahead of his young years on this planet.  A tribute to his parents and family.  Sean's got the work ethic to break through in 2012.  B2R is definitely rooting for #22 to succeed for the Bearcats in 2012.
